Jennifer Lopez shares heavily filtered selfie after suffering painful nose injury during rehearsals for 2025 American Music Awards
Jennifer Lopez, 55, posted a noticeably filtered selfie following a painful cut to her nose sustained during rehearsals for her upcoming role as host of the 2025 American Music Awards.
The On The Floor singer — who also recently showed off a bruise on her arm while preparing for the event — took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, capturing a quick snap from inside a vehicle.
Bathed in natural sunlight streaming through the windows, Lopez posed with one hand behind her head. She sported a cropped blue sweatshirt with matching bottoms, her long hair cascading over her shoulders.
She appeared to use a filter on the photo, adding the text “OMW to rehearsals” at the bottom. Her makeup featured a radiant glow with a warm blush on the cheeks, shimmering highlighter, and a glossy nude lip.
Jennifer Lopez also uploaded a selfie video from the back seat as she headed to her next stop, filming herself vibing to Her by Megan Thee Stallion. Seated beside her were stylist Shawn Barton and vocal coach Stevie Mackey.
The post comes shortly after the singer sustained multiple injuries in the run-up to the AMAs, scheduled for Monday, 26 May in Las Vegas.
On Friday, she revealed a new bruise on her arm in a black-and-white Instagram photo, likely acquired during rehearsals, as she was pictured in a dance studio at the time.
The mother-of-two is not only presenting the ceremony but will also be performing live during the show.
“It takes a village. DANCE AGAIN #AMAS @cbstv @ParamountPlus,” the Unstoppable actress captioned another post, which featured her posing with backup dancers in workout attire. She wore a plunging black leotard, leggings, Nike knee pads and white trainers — offering fans a glimpse of what to expect from her upcoming routine.
Earlier in May, Jennifer Lopez revealed she had injured her face while rehearsing on stage — an accident severe enough to require stitches. Fortunately, celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Jason Diamond was available to assist.
Initially, she cryptically posted a close-up image with an ice pack over her red, swollen nose and eye, simply captioned: “So this happened.” In a follow-up image, she confirmed the injury had occurred “during @amas rehearsals.”
Speaking to People magazine on Friday, she explained: “I hurt my nose. I hit it in rehearsal and I had to get stitches. It was fine. A few of us have gotten hurt in rehearsals. We’re doing a very high-energy, athletic number, so it’s bound to happen.”
She was later seen in grey loungewear, looking casual and slightly swollen, with signs of the injury still visible.
Though facial injuries can be detrimental for on-screen roles, Lopez recovered quickly thanks to Dr Diamond’s intervention. In a post shared on Tuesday, she revealed the accident had occurred a week prior and that she was nearly fully healed.
In the update, the Hustlers star offered a gentle smile as she posed with Dr Diamond, a Beverly Hills-based surgeon and former star of reality series Dr. 90210. A close-up image showed a faint discoloration and a healing gash above the bridge of her nose, but she otherwise looked back to her glamorous self.
“Thank you for stitching me up Dr Diamond,” she wrote. “A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
Last month, it was announced that Jennifer Lopez would return to host the AMAs, marking a decade since she last helmed the show.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,” said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, in a press release. “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer.”
Speaking to People, Jennifer Lopez added: “I’m always there as a fan. I love artists, getting to know them, being around them, and celebrating the different things everyone does. I really believe in lifting people up and celebrating great work — I’m very excited to do that this year.”
